Busy week!!

I have had the best week! I'm exhausted, but I was very successful. I have been on 9 appointments this week and I have 3 scheduled for tomorrow. I'm on a roll with activity and trying really hard to get off to a running start! Last week I got 4 contracts and this week I got 1. So I have had a lot of busy work designing and bookings ads. I still love it and I'm working really hard. I got an email from the VP of the company congratulating me on my hard efforts and successes I've had in my short time. That made me feel great. I'm hoping to have a big 4th quarter! Plus I sold my first Nashville LifeStyles ad which is a hip magazine and that was to Hard Rock!
Baby stepping to this weekend! We signed our lease and are getting the keys this Saturday! We can't wait to move out of this condo! It is going to feel so great to be settled and have our own things. We still need to go out to CA to get our things and are hoping to have them by the end of the month! Please email me for an address to mail donations to! LOL!

Addison is crawling, biting and pulling herself up! She is a BITER? It hurts too! She crawls all over the place and she is so FAST! It has only been for about 2 weeks and now she is pulling herself up! She has so much balance & coordination. And the baby can throw. She is her daddy's girl for sure, but I think that's my smile even though her hair is blond & those eyes are blue, I'm claiming her. And she waves when she see's you. Its just too cute! Everyone all over town is falling in love w/her. She is still smiling from ear to ear all the time. Addison is the sweetest and happiest baby ever!

Charlie Mae got in trouble this week at school. The teacher told me that I 'wouldn't have to worry about her, that she's all girl on the outside, but she is tough on the inside!'. I guess she was arguing w/a boy over a letter! And she was ready to fight! She wanted to duke it out. Each child gets 3 fuzzies for the week and if you have 3 fuzzies pulled you get a sad face reported to your parents for the day. She had 1 fuzzy pulled. The teacher did tell me it wasn't a big deal and that she definitely gets the concept while most of the kids just think its a game. So I guess there is a positive! She told us right away about the situation and understood she got in trouble. She also told me, she never wanted that to happen again... She told me today she is going to be a cheerleader, which couldn't make me prouder. She also said she's going to college. A football game came on TV and she grabbed her pom poms and said 'its gooooo VOLS time!'. Poor kid doesn't realize she's going to UCSD and they don't have a football team! Ha ha!! She loves her pom poms! Thanks Jennifer and Brett!! They have been so great and send the girls packages all the time! Charlie just loves getting mail too! She is so funny! She talked to her cousin yesterday and told her 'you can come, get on an airplane and my daddy will come pick you up!' How funny! Another funny thing she said right when she was going to go take a nap, 'I'm going to go wait for my prince & he better have a white horse!' Damn Snow White!! And now her knew thing when I say 'no' is, 'that breaks my heart' and 'don't be rude!'. She will be on fall break for about 2 weeks! We are still trying to figure out day care so Scott can work full time. We just haven't been able to work it out. Hopefully something will open up soon. I've asked the few people I know, but haven't found the right place yet. I'm sure it will all work out soon... I know Scott's cabin fever has kicked into high gear! He is a worker bee and needs to get out there!

Who are they?

They say that people will come and go. They say that life is too short. They say live and learn. They say look for the positives. They say people make mistakes. They say don't let challenges define who you are. They say rise above. They say change is tough, but good. They say we are all equal. They say knowledge is power. They say trust takes courage. They say love conquers all. They say always try your best. They say the unknown can be fearful. They say time mends. People will hurt you. They say you can't change others, but if you change yourself, your view of those who hurt will change. They say tomorrow is a new day and yesterday is the past. This girl is about to change.

Candid Camera?

Ok, so last night we decide to go out to dinner in Lebanon. We thought we'd try somewhere we hadn't been before and I was craving mexican food. We find a place to try and from the moment we walked in, we thought it was a joke! It was a nice, super clean and cutely decorated restaurant, but NO ONE was in there. A gentleman came & sat us down w/out saying a word. We laughed at the menu because it was super cheap! Very very cheap! A woman finally came after about 15 minutes and took our drink order. Than about 10 minutes later another woman came and put chips and salsa down on the table then immediately picked them up and said 'sorry' as she walked off. About a minute later the 1st woman came back and took our drink order again! Then the 2nd woman came back with the chips! It was hilarious!! So now we are going to order and the menu says all over 'no substitutions, order by # only' so I decide to ask her if they will make me a burrito my way? She rolls her eyes and says no! She then proceeds to say, 'what do you want on your burrito?' I tell her what I want and she says 'hold on'. She goes and asks and comes back and simply says 'ok'. Scott looks right at her and says '#5'. It was hilarious!! Then they bring our food out and give Scott my burrito and me his plate. They are too freaking hot to switch. I call Scott a dork because he answered 'yes' when they yelled 'burrito'. The guy who brought the food totally thought I was calling him a dork and he scoured off like I broke his heart. The food was so awful and absolutely tasteless my burrito was not even what I ordered... We did manage to make light of it and laugh it off. Then we got our check and it wasn't even $18. We both had a full meal, and cocktails for less than $18. Where was the camera?? We kept waiting but it never came out. I hope this isn't one of those stories that's only funny to me! Ha ha! Had to be there...

Tennessee Vs UAB

We won!! Thank goodness! So we got up this morning and headed out to Knoxville. Now this wasn't always the plan... I got the tickets free from work on Wednesday, but I wasn't going to go. I wanted to stay home this weekend and spend some quality time with Charlie and Addison. Charlie and I had plans to bake a cake and I was going to take her by this dance studio in town that has openings. Anyways, she decides to go with Ernie and Janette to West Memphis, Arkansas. Janette's sister Gloria is in town from Florida. So with her going out of town Scott figures he'll take one of his friends to the game. Well, none of his friends or cousins can make the game on such short notice. So he is pretty much thinking he's going by himself. We had thought about taking Addison to the game, but the website and info hot line said all ages need tickets!! Of course we didn't want to pay for a baby!!
I of course change my mind and decide to go ahead and go at the last minute. So we pack up Addison and head to Knoxville. We had an awesome parking pass and were able to park super close in a garage. I carried Addison in the sling and proceed to the gate. My diaper bag is searched, but they don't find Scott's hidden pocket knife, LOL! Then there it is, the woman looks at me and says 'I need 3 tickets!' Ah man!! I couldn't believe it... I had just witnessed a man give away 2 tickets to a stranger and now I'm being told I need to 'go buy a ticket'. I see a young kid, probably a student holding up a ticket. I ask him if 'it is an extra and if he wants to get rid of it?' I proceed to tell him that we were just told we need to buy a ticket for our baby! He said 'that's ridiculous!' He then decides to sell me his ticket for $10! Ha! Gotta love capitalism! We really did have an awesome time and Addison was the cutest cheerleader ever! She was so good and the day couldn't have went any smoother! She stayed in the sling a little more than half the time. She even snuggled on me and fell asleep. Everyone was astounded by how good she was. She never cried and she just enjoyed sitting on her mommy's lap. At one point I got up to go to the restroom and I was stopped by several people to tell me how lucky I am to have such a good and happy baby! These are probably the same people who judged me when I walked in for even bringing a baby! Ha! We were nervous, but it was perfect and so was Addison! Oh and the Vols won in double overtime!! As they say 'life is orange and white'... And let me tell ya, I saw some orange! Knoxville is a pretty cool college town. It has a rad vibe. The school itself is beautiful. Old brick buildings and just smelled like education! There were tall, beautiful trees surrounding the area. We had a blast... The 'Pride of the Southland' marching band was amazing! It was awesome to watch all of their formation changes. They even played me some 80's Bon Jovi! I left with only one question... Is a football really made from pigskin?

Hey, it's been awhile...

Wow! I didn't mean to go so long with out an update, I've just been so busy. I love my job! I really do love it. I think it is an awesome job and there is so much opportunity for me to be successful. I have started working on my own now and I have started to take ownership of my existing accounts. I have managed to up sell all of my existing clients and I have finally started some new business. This week I have received 3 signed contracts. I also won a gift card for setting the most appointment on the entire sales floor during a mandatory phone blitz! That was pretty cool. Plus, I heard other reps comment about how well I sounded and that I was just "awesome on the phone" they also said that "it sounds like she's having so much fun." I loved to hear the positive feedback, because I still have times where I feel out of my element, even though I love the job. Don't get me wrong, I have my moments of frustrations and of course there are times I question my skills and talents as my insecurities sneak out. Then it happens, that moment that all sales people love... I will be on an appointment and I'm engaged in great conversation and I say it. You know "it" those words, that statement and I give that smile as my brain says "holy shit, did I just say that?" Yes, yes I did. And it worked. They like it and they like me! This week alone I have talked with over 10 CEO's of large Nashville company's and I have had a blast. They have been interesting and unique clients as well. In fact I worked for over 2 days on an ED campaign and now I consider myself an expert on the subject. Ha! Just kidding! Plus, I was given 2 free tickets to the Tennessee football game this Saturday and a parking pass. Scott thinks that is awesome and is really excited about going. That is just another nice perk about my job. I tried to be all cool when I gave them to him too. I was wearing this great dress and my new killer boots. I mean these boots are hot. I received at least 8 compliments yesterday on my outfit yesterday and I thought, I am going to go home looking this good and give my husband football tickets! Oh yeah! Ha! Not so much... He loves the tickets, but he doesn't get my boots at all. Ha Ha!

Last Friday I attended an awesome fashion show in downtown Nashville and that was amazing. I also went to the Frist and saw a vintage couture fashion exhibit from Europe. It was incredible. I have never wanted to touch something so much in my life. The beads, the textures, the fabrics, it was all incredible. Charlie Mae went with me and just loved it. She is my daughter for sure. We went with another couple who have a daughter who is about 6 months older than Charlie Mae and they got along so well. They had a blast. Probably the funniest part of that story is I finally got Scott to go with me to a museum and they asked him to leave! He had Addison in the lobby and was about to give her a bottle and they straight up asked him to go. How funny is that? Scott of course didn't mind and was as polite as ever. I finished the exhibit with Charlie Mae and we picked out our favorites.

I'm not going to say I am adjusting well and I won't bore you with my inner thoughts, as this blog really doesn't have the "dear diary" feel and is designed to update you on the kids. I will say that I am meeting new people and making friends. I've joined the chamber in Nashville and I have been to several events. I have been working out a bit to stay in shape and I am training to run a 5K run in November. I have been going to boot camp on Saturday mornings and I love it. It is hard work, but I love the atmosphere. We are actually working out at a park and being outside is not usually my thing, but I am enjoying the group of women that are participating with me. I do really like Nashville and I am exploring. There is so much to see and keep me busy. My office is so close to the heart of the city its easy to get out at lunch time and learn my way around. I am getting lost every day and the Garmin hates me. I swear she knows when I am driving and not Scott! Yesterday she had me turn the wrong way on a one way street! Yes, it is true! This was not just any street either. This was 4th and Church... 2 MAJOR streets in downtown Nashville. It was very scary, but thank goodness I survived.

Tomorrow is "show and tell Friday" and Charlie Mae is taking her flashlight because they have been learning the letter "f" all week. So she has to take something that starts with the letter of the week. Last week she took her Tigger for the letter "t"... ha! I'm sure you could guess what letter it was. Charlie Mae still loves school and is learning so much. She comes home singing new songs and is counting so well. She is putting together things that I have said to her in the past and it is obvious she understands now. Her teacher Mrs. Joey Jane says she is her favorite student of all time. Which I think is wonderful. I sure would like to be a fly on the wall in that class. They say Charlie Mae makes them laugh all day and I believe it. Addison is officially a crawler! She can crawl all over the house and does not sit still. She is hilarious too just like her sister. She will be crying and then I smile at her and she just smiles back! It is so funny. She has the greatest smile too. She smiles from ear to ear and all you see is teeth. Funny that I just said that because that is how Scott has described my smile before. She has this amazing arm strength and throws like crazy. I know I have said that before, but it is just so funny. She will be sitting in her high chair and we'll give her a toy and she launches it! She has such a cute dainty laugh too! On a sad note... we lost pretzel. That little Beta Fish survived in Scott's truck all the way from California in a water bottle and he stoped swimming yesterday in his tank. It was a real bummer. We of course now have pretzel number 2! We were able to pull it off and have added another lie to the parents know best column... ah yea right. We are just taking the easy way out, but isn't that usually the purpose of a lie. The truth hurts, right?

On an exciting note... very exciting news!!! DRUM ROLL.... We are moving! Yeah, good bye tiny condo. We have had a blast, but we want our own bed, our awesome kitchen stuff, some bathroom counter space, a DVR that will keep recordings longer than 2 days, and just our stuff! It has been hard to live with out our stuff! We love Ernie and Janette and I won't complain about living with them. Not only because they will read this, but because they are very good to us and we are lucky to have them. Yes, we are blessed. I know they are probably ready to have us go, but I know they will miss living with Charlie and Addison. We are going to move the 1st of October. Scott will fly out to California and get our stuff out of storage and drive it back. We have enough here to move in as soon as the house is available and he will probably go back to California the 2nd week in October. We shall see. It will be so hard for me knowing he is there with out me, but I will survive. I do really miss seeing my family. I miss my sister more than I can describe. Plus, I am so happy for my niece Maryam. She is doing so well and has really come so far. Since only family reads this and I am sure you have all heard, but I am talking about her not needing her button anymore. She is eating so well and is so healthy that she doesn't need it anymore. They were able to take it out this week!! Isn't that awesome!!! I was so nervous all day and I wanted to be with my sister for that moment. She was so happy when she called me and hearing the excitement in her voice was amazing. We did get a web cam so I can SKYPE now. In fact I skyped today with my best friends from college which was awesome. No one else has done it with me though. I am sure it will catch on soon. Hopefully Jennifer and my mom will do it soon too. Scott's family has it, so he and the girls have been able to talk to his brother and sister in law.

Scott's job is going great too. He just completed a bathroom tile job and was able to do it all by himself. That guy can do anything of course, but you all know that if you know him. He even built a deck by himself and listening to that story is hilarious. The bathroom job has a funny story too. That's one of the things I love about my husband. They man has stories... he can tell them too! If something crazy is going to happen, it happens to Scott and he always finds a way out too! Like I said he can do anything...

West Memphis Arkansas

This Labor Day weekend we took a drive through TN, we went through Memphis, and crossed the over the Mississippi River into West Memphis Arkansas. We started our 4 hour road trip around 8am on Saturday morning and followed Ernie and Janette. We had to take 2 cars of course and we managed to have room for Smokey. As we drove across the great state of TN, I began to notice that almost every car had some form of hunter safety orange to it. Some were occupied by both men & women wearing orange, others were covered w/orange T stickers, some had orange flags, while some had pom poms sticking out of the windows. The UT pride was in the air... In fact we stopped at a McDonald's and I'm not kidding, I think I was the only person not wearing orange. I was more than a little impressed by the display of enthusiasm. It was a long trip and Addison did not enjoy it. We had to stop several times to get her to relax. She had been doing a lot better in the car too, but this was not her day. We were following Ernie and Janette down caravan style. Normally this would not be funny, but in the 4 hour drive I lost count of how many times my husband and his parents called each other on the phone. LOL! Actually we ended up finally splitting up. Charlie was riding w/her Nana & Papa and she needed to go potty. Since Scott and I were heading to the bank we decided to just go ahead with out them. We finally made it to Aunt Margaret's house in West Memphis, Arkansas early Saturday afternoon. Ernie and Janette did beat us there and my funny FIL new exactly to the minute how much longer it took us when I asked him a few hours later. He was so proud to say '8 minutes, Sarah we were here for 8 minutes when you pulled up!' LOL! Classic Ernie! It was pretty cool to drive across the Mississippi River and across state line. Aunt Margaret is Janette's sister and Nat graduated from high school there and Scott went to Jr high there. Now I had been there before several years ago, but it was fun to see where Scott grew up. He drove me through the town that had the small town, Southern vibe. It is a beautiful town, covered with tall, aged, green trees that grew over the streets. It reminded me a lot of Northern California towns. It was interesting how there was a neighborhood grouped together where several subdivisions came together and there were some streets that had nice, large homes & others that had old beat down shacks. As Scott turned the corner I wasn't sure what I was going to see next. As Scott gave his tour, he spoke like he was just there yesterday. He spoke like he was home. He told me where he would play as a child, he mentioned all of his old friends houses and bragged about his brothers football days, as we drove by the stadium.
It was a good weekend trip. On a personal note I learned a lot about myself. I tried things I had never tried before. I enjoyed the thrill that came with the new & the unknown. I let go of a few rules and was pretty laid back. I also laughed. I laughed in a new way, I laughed at myself. As I was heading out to downtown Memphis and I was explaining to a mother of 2 how to put my kids asleep as if it was a new phenomenon and collectively I was told that it would be ok for her to stay up late and just fall asleep when she was ready. This thought had never occurred to me. I thought she needed structure and had to stick to her routine. They also fed her chicken nuggets at 8 PM. I didn't laugh to be rude... I laughed because it was out of my routine and I had never strayed from my routine. This was not my only 1st. I also ate spaghetti w/a meat sauce, I ate a mexican casserole that had dorritos in it, I ate a pigs butt, and I ate red beans & rice. Yes, I had a wild weekend.
Charlie Mae had more fun than anyone. She spent the entire weekend playing! She jumped on a trampoline, she swam, she ran, and she played video games! She was busy, busy, busy!! The child was nonstop for days and she slept the entire way home. Addison had a blast too, she was passed around from cousin to cousin and was as good as ever. They both slept all night when we were there and they both slept the entire way home. The highlight of the trip for me was going to Memphis on Sunday with Faith. That's Scott's 16 year old cousin. We went to the mall so she could get a new dress for a semi-formal dance. We picked out a fun dress and an awesome pair of shoes. Plus, she was able to get a great deal on both. We both had a lot of fun. Before she found this dress she was going to wear yellow sneakers! I know! Crazy kid... Luckily she found my fashion sense worthy enough to talk her out of that! Sunday night we went downtown to Beale street, which was awesome! We had a great time. We found a seat outside at a bar where we could people watch, hear music and see the street performers. The weather was perfect, not hot at all and I didn't need a sweater to accidentally leave behind. Memphis is by far one of the coolest cities I have been to. The atmosphere just screams FUN! I even love the smell... Booze, sex, drugs, puke and of course urine, but hey that just screams GOOD TIMES! LOL. We ended the night at Silky Sullivan's... Great drinks and dancing. We needed a night out for sure and we made the most of it. Scott had a great time with his family and they were very hospitable. Everyone was extremely nice. Funny how my family asked me what they thought of me and were curious if I 'fit in'. I wasn't sure what that exactly meant, but I'm sure I totally blended! Ha! I kept my historical map in my purse so they didn't see it. There was a moment when Charlie pointed out a bird and I told her it was a dove. Scott's cousin Jeff said 'it is a dove!' I said, 'yea I know, that's what I just said, it is dove season!' He was surprised to say the least. LOL... That's just my daddy talking. I always know when September 1st comes around...
